The course social standards and gender mainstreaming will cover the following areas: Introduction to Basic Concepts of Social Norms. Types of Norms. Social Expectations. Conceptual definition of gender and related terms. Introduction to Gender Mainstreaming. Principles of Gender MainstreamingChallenges and gender-related constraints to poverty reduction.  Gender Analysis. The World Bank and Gender Mainstreaming. Minimum Standards for mainstreaming gender equality. Gender mainstreaming skills and strategies. Gender policy, indicator and planning. 

OBJECTIVES:

1. Discuss the Basic concept of Social Standards
2. Explain Social norms and Social expectations.
3. Diagnose and distinguish between different types of norms
4. Clarify any ambiguity in the terms: norms, customs, conventions
5. Give the conceptual definition of gender and other related terms
