This course raises the question of what sorts of problems are connected to the implementation of GIS in an organization and how to solve these? Laws, Ethics and availability of geographical data are also discussed. The course treats staff and data as well as technical problems. Cost/benefit-analysis is also an important aspect, but this subject is only briefly covered in the course.

It is expected that at the end of the course student will be able to: identify a user/organization’s needs for geographical information; fit these needs into a current organizational framework (internal and external); and formulate the needs in a specification and the implementation process.
