Social Standards in Emergency and Disaster Management


In this course, with me, we shall learn how to meet the social standard needs of the victims of disaster. In order words, emergencies and disasters though unpredictable, unforeseen, in some cases could be predicted, However, whenever it happens, it posses high risks to lives and properties and priority of response is on human lives followed by animals and others. However in responding to meet the needs of the affected or victims, responders are required by law to do so with respect to human dignity. To provide leadership guidance to responders, emergency and disaster management do so in a standard manner. Through this course we shall learn the foundational principles in disaster and emergency management, preparedness in disaster emergency management, social standards and global best practices, global and regional environmental issues, sustainable environments, and capacity building for disaster risk management.
